How to plan your trip to Brazil?
Brazil covers an area 15 times larger than France. Planning a trip to Brazil can prove challenging, and choosing which destinations to explore is no simple matter.
Here are some tips to help you prepare your journey to Brazil:
It's essential to consider:
- The number of days you have available.
- When during the year you're planning to travel. Depending on the season, we recommend different itineraries. If you're coming in December or January, the Pantanal is not advisable. In July/August, southern Brazil is best avoided. From May to October, the Pantanal is an excellent choice, etc.
- Who you're traveling with. We organize many family trips. Depending on your children's age and abilities—whether they can walk long distances, handle multiple flights, and so on—we suggest different Brazil itineraries.
- Your interests (beaches, diving, warm weather, hiking in Brazil, etc.). Whether you want to discover Brazil's must-see highlights or simply wish for a week of relaxation on a sunny beach while it's snowing in France.
- And last but certainly not least: your budget.
For a first trip to Brazil, we suggest visiting Rio de Janeiro – Iguazu Falls – the charming village of Paraty, perhaps with some beach time on Ilha Grande. However, if you'd like to include Salvador de Bahia, we recommend Rio de Janeiro – Iguazu Falls – Salvador de Bahia, plus some nearby beaches.
One of the best times to take this trip is in March/April, during the Easter school holidays.
In terms of duration, given the length of flights (~11.5 hours from France), the ideal is to plan for 15 days in Brazil. A minimum of 12 nights on the ground.
